It's not that we don't have enough places to explore in Oregon, but sometimes we can't help but run up to Washington to see what they've got there. This time we went to Moulton Falls. It was beautiful! Definitely a favorite. And the weather was perfect.
We started off walking along the Lewis River. It was so big, and still, and so inviting! The weather was delightful, not hot enough to convince any of us to wade in the river, but this would absolutely be a great place to play in the river on a hot summer's day. The water is so clear and is deep enough in many places to have a good swim. It looks as if it's a great place to fish as well. We saw some fish in the deeper sections.
Lincoln is pretending to fish. Libby is relaxing in the sun.
Next to one of the falls, there were a few pools of water. Look what we found in one, a newt!
Sometimes you are too tired to go on and need a trail nap.
We found a nice section of river that had a gravely beach for us to chill on. We spent some time there playing and talking and enjoying the beautiful day. We even got to see a couple of bald eagles soaring over head.
Here is the section of the river that is Moulton Falls.
The kids found some pools of water with tadpoles in them, or as my kids like to call them, tadapoles.
It was a very fun day trip and a great way for Ethan and I to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary. Can you believe that? 13 years! It's been great and we couldn't be happier with the family we've got. We certainly feel very blessed.
